Entering the Building
The building has been designed and built to provide a significant level of security to all people who live and work in the building.
The security of the building relies on both the equipment that has been installed and all those that use the building during the day and night.
Security FOB- Everyone that is living in the building will have been issued with a security FOB that operates both the front entrance door and the main door into the accommodation section of the building. With the FOB you can come and go as you require without further hindrance.
- You should not allow or help people without a FOB enter the building unless they are with you and you wish them to enter the building with you.
- If you do not follow this requirement you are potentially allowing someone in the building that may steal from you or a friend or worse they may be intent on injury or other harm. The building can only be secure if everybody follows this basic safety requirement.
- If you lose your FOB then report this to the Building Manager IMMEDIATELY.
- A new FOB will cost you £50 – they are expensive so please do not lose them.
- The key pad at the main entrance door relates to the flat number and will dial the flat; it does not gain you entry like a pin number.
- There are 3 other doors on the ground floor none of which are for general use. These doors are alarmed so unauthorised use will set off the loudest alarm you have ever heard and the police will attend the building within 5 minutes – you have been warned!
- Two of these doors are for use if the building wide fire alarm system is initiated. The door at the base of the staircase at the rear of the building will be released and then can be used as a fire exit.
- The door at the base of the staircase in the front of the building is also a fire door and is opened by pushing the metal push bar.
- The third door is in the entrance lobby and will only be opened by the building manager if required for a special reason.
Building Entrance/Security Systems
Your Front Door
- The key to your front door is unique; it will open only your front door and your service cupboard. You will be given a front door key. If you lose a key then report it immediately to the Building Manager.
- A new key will cost you £25 so please don’t lose them.
Letting in your Visitors
- The building is equipped with a video entrance system and each studio has a colour video entry phone on the hallway wall.
- In reviewing the security issues relating to the building it was agreed in the design stage that the door entry function on the Video System would be fully disabled.
- As a result when some one wants to come and visit you, you can buzz them into the entrance lobby but you physically have to go down to the accommodation area front door and let them in.
- We know that this may be inconvenient to you but our main objective is to maintain security in the accommodation area, this can best be achieved by only the person having the visitor going down and letting them in.
- DO NOT allow people into the accommodation area that are not specifically visiting YOU.
CCTV System
The building is equipped with CCTV cameras placed in key position around the building. The installation of CCTV cameras is to provide a digital record of what happens in the building during the day and night. The CCTV equipment is high resolution and information is recorded onto a large capacity hard disk recorder. Be aware that the CCTV monitors are not viewed on a constant basis but will be reviewed if there have been any incident that have occurred in their vicinity.
- The Building Manager will use the CCTV information when investigating any complaints, reported violence, thief and damage to the building.
- The CCTV information will also be made readily available to the police if circumstances require it.
