Through most of the day, six days a week, trains will run every 30 minutes between Truro, Penryn, Perran-ar-Worthal and Falmouth.
This transformation is being made possible thanks to a Cornwall Council led £7.8 million investment by the ERDF Convergence Programme, Network Rail and First Great Western.
A new 400m loop and associated signalling has been installed at Penryn that will enable trains to pass each other in the station.
Penryn Station is currently being extensively modernised. In readiness for the start of the new service, the platform has been extended and split in two. Trains to Falmouth stop at the southern end, Platform 1, and Trains to Truro stop at eh northern end, Platform 2.
Anyone wishing to find out more about the transformation of the Maritime Line and the new train services in invited to attend one of the public exhibitions, the centrepiece of which will be a working model of Penryn Station. The model will clearly demonstrate how the train services and passing loop will work.
Penryn Town Hall will be the venue for the main exhibition to be held on Thursday, May 14, from noon until 7pm. The exhibition will also be on show in Falmouth (at the Poly, May 15 and 16, noon until 7pm) and at Truro Station. A newsletter is also being delivered to Penryn households. More information about the exhibition can be obtained at greatscenicrailways.com or by telephoning 01752 233094.
