The University College of Falmouth (UCF) has its activities are spread between the Wood Lane Campus in central Falmouth (1/2 a mile from the Maritime student building), and Penryn's new Tremough Campus which is about 3 miles from the Maritime Building.
UCF has a reputation across the art, design and media industries locally, nationally and internationally as a place to find innovation and the industry stars of the future. Whether in major competitions, or for employment, our students are highly sought after and successful in their chosen pursuits.
Formerly known as Falmouth Art School, UCF has been turning out design graduates that have helped turn this part of Cornwall into a vibrant hub of design and the creative industries, employing graduates from many of the local colleges, and attracting work both nationally and internationally. The college offers various courses (undergraduate, postgraduate) with the principle fields being art, design and media.
With cutting-edge Media and Design Centres and a brand new Photography Centre, Falmouth has become a centre of excellence for the arts and is attracting an eclectic mix of students from across the world, making it an exciting atmosphere in which to study. The proliferation of design and marketing agencies in the area has also made it possible to live and work in this stunning area, even after your time as a student here has finished.
With the merger between University College Falmouth and Dartington College of the Arts in 2008, UCF now offers additional courses in Art, Choreography, Music, Writing and Theatre. These remain based at Dartington Hall near Totnes, in Devon at the present time, but the plan is in place to move these to the Falmouth campuses in 2010, after which the new "University of the Arts" in Cornwall is due to be formed.
