Each apartment comprises an entrance hall, a living room/bedroom, kitchen with fitted appliances, broad band internet connection, shower room/WC and an individual balcony.

The community has facilities including 'penthouse' residents' Common Room which, like many of the individual apartments takes advantage of views across the harbour to the sea and the town. The Common Rooms are popular meeting places with pool table, vending machines, and seating areas to read, relax and socialise.
All studios are equipped with a variety of fittings, and further 'packages' can be purchased so your studio is completely ready for occupation

As the students have settled in we have found it necessary to add some extra faciilties for their comfort, and the smooth running of the building. There are also a limited number of secure storage boxes (available on a first come first served basis), some car parks (cycling, public transport and car sharing are strongly encouraged), and a supply of light bulbs on site for the students.

Location

cornish surferMaritime Studios is perfectly located for student accommodation being a 10 - 15 minute walk from the campus at Wood Lane, and the town centre. Nearby there is a local post office/general store and a Tesco Express store adjacent to Events Square and the Maritime Museum.

The building benefits from an area of wild flowers meadow land, and a connecting walkway to Falmouth Docks Railway Station, providing branch line access to Penryn Station, a quarter of a mile from the Tremough Campus. This journey continues to the mainline station at Truro (Cornwall's cathedral city) with ongoing direct access to mainline Paddington in London. The journey to Truro takes appoximately 20 minutes. There are also regular bus services to Falmouth town centre and the beaches as well as the campus at Tremough.

Facilities

Living Spaces: Maritime Studios has been specifically designed to accommodate students in Falmouth providing recreational facilities, and secure self-contained relatively indulgent living spaces with individual accommodation more akin to hotel facilities. Students are able to socialise and relax in the communal areas and enjoy the stunning views they afford.

Common Facilities: Both the Reception and Common Room areas are designed to provide the students with space to socialise with relaxed seating and in the Reception area there is a meeting area as well as a plasma TV screen, individual post boxes for each apartment and a pay phone. In the Residents' Common Room, the students enjoy a game of pool, and there are vending machines providing drinks and refreshments, and a second pay phone.

Security:
Security is provided by way of a secure door to the main building, with each studio having an individual locked door, CCTV of the communal areas, stairwells and lift levels. Disabled access is granted to all levels through the building by way of the lift, with doorways wide enough for wheelchairs.

Transport: Outside there is visitor car parking and a number of bike racks with a limited number of lockable stores available on a 'first come first served' basis.  Cycling, public transport and car sharing are strongly encouraged, partly because the Woodlane campus of the University of Falmouth and the railway station are both so near, partly because of the overall ethos of the building and its student community, and partly because it is an important aspect of the terms of the building's construction and operation.

Appliances and Disposables: As the students have settled in we have found it necessary to add some extra faciilties for their comfort, and the smooth running of the building.

Artists Impression of Maritime Building - Student flats in Falmouth, Cornwall

Due to the nature of the building and the importance of encouraging a biodiversity environment around new buildings, Devington Homes employed a Landscape architect – Rathbone Partnership - to consider the issues for 2 main areas of the development – the roof and the meadow land between the building and the rail track.

As a result Maritime Accommodation has a fully planted 'green' roof which supports a variety of vegetation growth. Not only is this visually appealing, it is eco-friendly and improves air-quality.
