Common Room

An exciting 6 storey student community of 145 high quality self contained individual studio apartments.

Students move in for the next academic year – September 2009

Maritime Studios provides a safe and sociable modern environment with the secure controlled access to the building, a manager/caretaker and CCTV.

Other facilities include a lift to all floors, a ‘penthouse’ common room with a plasma screen, a vending machine and a relaxing seating area, which like many of the studios take advantage of views across the harbour to the sea and the town.  There is also a ground floor Common Room with plasma screen and Blue Ray DVD player, pool table and vending machines.

Some apartments are privately owned - please find out about the great investment opportunity that these represent.  Others will become available for student rental this summer as one group of students complete their time at Falmouth, and a new year arrives.  And the remainder of the Studios will contain students from this year, moving from the 2nd to the 3rd year of their degree courses at Falmouth.

Fresh Flurry of Interest in Five Star Student Apartments

A guaranteed minimum return of five per cent per annum has underlined the investment value of Cornwall’s first purpose-built student accommodation off campus and reinforced hopes of a sustained recovery in the property market.

The guarantee, for the first 24 months of ownership, is being offered by Devington Homes in respect of its six-storey Maritime Studios development near Falmouth Docks, where 145 studio apartments were completed last year with “five star student living standards.”

The move has prompted a flurry of fresh interest in the development, which offers year-round rentals from a student population that is mushrooming in line with the fast-growing Combined Universities in Cornwall.

A new mini-community has sprung to life in Falmouth with completion of the “Maritime Studios” new homes scheme close to Falmouth Docks, with all 145 studio apartments now occupied by students at the start of their academic year.

The striking new six-storey building on the Falmouth skyline is one of the area’s first purpose-built complexes designed to meet the dramatically increased need for quality student accommodation with the major expansion of the Combined Universities of Cornwall.

A VIP opening ceremony was held  in October, but in the meantime it’s all systems go with developer Lawrence Butler hailing “a textbook triumph, with Maritime Studios finished on time, on budget and now very much home to a great many happy students.”
